Vampires are Real—
but Everything You Thought You
Knew About Them is Wrong!

When freelance information specialist Jason Wood found that a suspected drug kingpin didn't appear on photographs, he decided to investigate, suspecting that the kingpin was actually a vampire. But things wouldn't turn out to be that simple, and he soon found he was in danger from the last person he would have suspected. Trying to survive in a bizarre night world, Jason learns not only that vampires and werewolves really exist, but that they are part of a universe stranger than he ever imagined. . . .

I liked the free chapters and would have bought this book to read the rest but it is "temporarily unavailable". How can an e-book be unavailable? Did we run out of electrons? Did we run out of server space? Did we cave into corporate "large area in south america pertaining to watershed of large river in south america" wishes?

Great light reading with an interesting take on the supernatural creatures mythology. Protagonist pleasingly Marlowe-esque. More please!

Though the book does appear to be no more than a short story collection, I found it entertaining. It was a very interesting take on the origin of vampires. Look forward to a complete novel set in this universe.

Not sure if the author started out with the intention of writing a series of short stories involving the same characters or it just developed that way. However, as you get further along the stories do link up better as a whole and in general the novel does work. There are some interesting twists to the concepts of werewolves, vampires and other mythological creatures. The biggest problem with the novel is not that it is a series of short stories but that these stories are really just an introduction to the world, the main characters and the overall concepts and basically just set the stage. Hopefully, there a more full novel in the works that will take advantage of this. One thing that can be a bit annoying to me though is when characters give lengthy speeches or discussions simply to provide background or setting information. This is not normal discourse and always comes across as clumsy. The fact that the process is repeated early on with basically the same facts is also a slight problem. Overall the novel is a fun and quick read with characters that are intriguing but in need of development.

This work is actually a collection of short stories under the guise of a novel. Each story is connected to each other by clumsily written literary threads, providing cover for the fact that the author hasn’t the imagination or the creativity to expand each story into a full-length book. I was looking forward to reading about vampires and werewolves, but they only appeared briefly in the stories, I found that immensely disappointing. More than that, I found that the actions and motivations of the characters to be inconsistent and unrealistic. The author failed to make me care about what happened to them. It was a poorly written book, overall. And dull. I can see why this book is out of print.

A very good book. I first started reading it as snippets, and got completely hooked. With and easy to shun disbelief, this fantasy set in our modern world is both action packed, and truly entertaining. Hope to see a sequel at some point. Written as almost a collection of shorter pieces, it comes together very nicely. Jason Wood is THE PI of paranormal. Ryk E. Spoor is a modern great. Tom Chism
