Dead Six-ARC
by Larry Correia and Mike Kupari

Michael Valentine, veteran and former member of an elite private military company, has been recruited by the government to conduct a secret counter-terror operation in the Persian Gulf nation of Zubara. The unit is called Dead Six. Their mission is to take the fight to the enemy and not get caught.

Lorenzo, assassin and thief extraordinaire, is being blackmailed by the world's most vicious crime lord. His team has to infiltrate the Zubaran terrorist network and pull off an impossible heist or his family will die. When Dead Six compromises his objective, Lorenzo has a new job: Find and kill Valentine.

As allegiances are betrayed and the nation descends into a bloody civil war, Lorenzo and Valentine must face off. Two men. Two missions. Only one will win.

This has to be the start of a series because it leaves a lot unanswered. Even so I thoroughly enjoyed it and am (hopefully) looking forward to the next one.

Its OK. It reads like two novels from different points of view. The individual plots criss-cross a few times and combine in the end. I like the the Writer but this one gets a Pass from me. A little too confusing for me.

Clancy's got nothing on these guys. The action sequences are awesome, the plot kept me reading late into the night. Great character development, I felt like I could picture the characters in my head. I love the dual author format.

This dual narrative book is well written, the characters are nicely developed, the action is good and the details (especially on firearms) are believable, so why only 3 stars. Because I often found myself reading this book with a sense of deja-vu. This is not a bad story and I enjoyed it over the course of several days, but I was never surprised by the plot(s) or the players and the story unfold pretty much exactly like I expected. That is not a 'bad' thing, but after reading Larry C's MHI and Grimnoir books, I expected something more unique for his debut in this genre.

It's like Drake (grittyness) meets Ringo (action and drive) meets Weber (no skimping on the details), except it's Correia meets Kupari. Very much surprised and pleased. I love Larry's work, but was a little nervous about his first joint venture would work out. I need not have worried. This is an absolutely gripping page turner that doesn't skimp on tactical details but which still manages to fully flesh out the combat without dragging down the pacing. Flow is absolutely perfect, and the heart-rending yanks the authors will put you through make you that much more connected to the characters. You get a solid dose of flawed hero and anti-hero, and you feel for them both. One can definitely tell this is an ARC, so proofers, please use your fine toothed proofing combs here, but substance-wise, flow-wise, and story-wise, this novel has it nailed. If you thought Larry's Grimnoir series was darker than what you're used to with MHI, then you ain't read nothin' yet. HIGHLY recommended (or, better yet, hold off on buying till the final edition is released and help Larry and Mike get this one even higher on the NYT Bestseller list).

This is by far the best action-adventure I have read in a decade. Don't let me interrupt. Keep writing!

Really really good! I've read Correia's other stuff but didn't expect this one to be as good. I started reading the free chapters and just couldn't stop. Ended up buying the e-arc and reading into the night. One of the best books I've read in a long time. This is a definite read. You won't be disappointed.

I started with the sample chapters tonight and could not stop reading this story! It took me four chapters to understand I was seeing two different points of view and two separate story lines. Once I figured out that, I realized that I was getting a major look at tow talented storytellers. These guys are going to be great like Sharon Lee and Steve Miller or Ringo and Weber! Can not wait for the rest of this book. Damn but the authors are very good and just went on my must have everything!
