Hell Hath No Fury - eARC
by David Weber and Linda Evans

IT ALL STARTED AS A MISTAKE!

Both Arcana and Sharona had explored scores of universes, each a duplicate of its own, without ever encountering another human civilization.

Then that changed.

Two survey expeditions met in the cool shadows of an autumn forest. No one knows who shot first, but both sides have suffered heavy casualties, and each blames the other. Now both sides want possession of Hell's Gate, the cluster of inter-universal portals and their survey forces met in blood . . . and neither is prepared to let the other have it..

Arcana's wizards, dragons, and gryphons are about to meet Sharona's bolt-action rifles, machine guns, and mortars. Transport dragons are about to meet steam locomotives. And all that either side really knows is that neither of them has ever seen a war like the one about to begin.

I have to agree with others here that the books are to short and cannot wait for the next one. Like all of Weber's work it only gets better each time you read it.

So when is the next installment coming in this series? Let's hope I do not have to wait too long. Since I am 75 years old, you never know. So you guys better hurry up and get going on the next installment of the "Hell" series. That is providing you do not want me and others to tell you to "go there."

It was a bit hard to follow what was happening to each character, and the book ends more like a chapter ending, since there is no resolution to any of the conflicts developed in the book.

I have just finished rereading both "Hell's Gate" and "Hell Hath No Fury. As with the majority of David Weber's books (Series) a second reading is almost mandatory to pick up on some of the character subtleties as well as the working and limitations of some of the weapons. The first reading is worth the ticket price of the action/adventure story. The second read you sit back and enjoy the actions and reactions of your friends and enemies while they begin to understand the religious and political motivations of their allies and opponents. Without a doubt this series is up to level of the "Honor Harrington" novels.

It's very good, too good in fact: the wait till the next book in this series is available is going to be murder...

another innovative concept, with interesting characters and a nice mix of military action and socio-political intrigue.

You can certainly see Weber's hand in creation of the social order of the technological civilization and the battle scenes.
